SANTA U.S.A.
Santa
U.S.A. began in the mid-seventies as a personal project of a single
individual. He was determined to bring happiness, goodwill and
the Christmas Spirit to the children, the infirm, and the terminally
ill in our community. Many good-hearted neighbors noticed his
dedication and as their interest grew, these caring people began
to contribute their time and money. In the beginning, all travel
was by bus, truck, and car. It wasn't long before Santa USA caught
the attention of our local police and fire department personnel.
Volunteers from both departments began to contribute their time
to ensure that the Santa USA experience would be safe as well
as enjoyable.
Enthusiasm
thrived and many of the volunteers created costumes of elves and
various other Christmas characters. As our community continued
to grow, Santa's efforts expanded. It became impossible for him
to visit all the places appropriate to fulfill his mission with
the travel and time constraints. Helicopters were the perfect
answer!
Helicopters are a quick, fast and safe mode of transportation
for Santa! Imagine the fascination and amazement in the eyes of
children young and old alike as Santa arrives by helicopter -
straight from the North Pole! During mid-December, Santa visits
many of the elementary schools as well as nursing homes and hospitals.
These days, Santa's flying group includes: Santa, Mrs. Claus,
Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. The Tall
Tin Soldier, Raggedy Ann and Santa's special team of elves travel
by motor vehicles, and meet Santa on-site.
